Surgical removal. Appendectomy, nephrectomy.

Creation of an artificial opening. Colostomy, tracheostomy.

Cutting into, without creating a permanent opening. Laparotomy.

A condition of the blood. Anaemia, hyperkalaemia, septicaemia.
brady- / tachy-
Slow / fast. Bradycardia is under 60 bpm, tachycardia over 100.
-plasia vs -trophy
Plasia is a change in cell number, trophy a change in cell size. Hyperplasia adds cells; hypertrophy enlarges them.
peri- / endo- / epi-
Around / within / upon. Pericardium, endocardium, epicardium.

Pain. Neuralgia, myalgia.
