The request succeeded.
201 Created
The request succeeded and created a resource. Should carry a Location header.
204 No Content
Succeeded, and deliberately has no body.
301 Moved Permanently
The resource has a new canonical URL. Caches and search engines update.
302 Found
Temporary redirect. The original URL stays canonical.
304 Not Modified
The cached copy is still good; no body is sent.
400 Bad Request
The server could not parse or accept the request as sent.
401 Unauthorized
Authentication is missing or invalid. Badly named: it means unauthenticated.
403 Forbidden
The server knows who you are and refuses anyway.
404 Not Found
No resource at this URL.
405 Method Not Allowed
The URL exists but not for this verb. Must list allowed methods in an Allow header.
409 Conflict
The request conflicts with the current state, such as an edit against a stale version.
422 Unprocessable Content
Well-formed but semantically invalid — a validation failure.
429 Too Many Requests
Rate limited. Often paired with Retry-After.
500 Internal Server Error
The server failed and has nothing more specific to say.
503 Service Unavailable
Temporarily down or overloaded. Retryable.
